Treating Acne the Natural Way

www.skincaremoz.com

When you consider how sensitive one’s skin can be it’s hard to imagine that over-the-counter treatments that are filled with chemicals is the way to go to treat acne. For those who have a problem with acne, herbal remedies will offer the treatment that you’re looking for without all of the harsh chemicals that may actually make your problem worse.

With all of the commercials and advertisements offering up quick fixes and practical miracles thanks to some of the mass-manufactured treatments—all conveniently available for the low price of only *fill in the blank* and with free shipping when you buy two or more—it’s not hard to get sucked in. It is easy to understand why someone may be tempted to go that route, but truthfully, people were dealing with acne long before any of the so-called miracle cures were even invented. Botanical and herbal remedies for acne and other skin issues were the only option for years and years so why not go back to that natural and healthy way of treating our skin? What we do know about herbal remedies is that they offer the purest and most natural way to clear your skin and when it comes to acne; the less stuff you put on your skin the better.

For those looking for some simple and natural ways to care for their skin and reduce their acne, the following options are worth considering:

Tea Tree Oil

http://www.glamourgirlzblog.com/
www.thebodyshop.co.uk

This natural antibacterial agent has been said to work wonders on acne because it kills bacteria including Propionibacterium acnes, which is the bacteria that causes acne breakouts. According to the Mayo Clinic’s website, gels with 5 percent tea tree oil might be as effective as topical acne lotions that contain 5 percent benzoyl peroxide, even if it does work a little slower. You can find bottles of tea tree oil in most health and drug stores. To use tea tree oil on acne all you need to do is dilute a drop or two of the oil with equal parts water and apply to the skin using a cotton ball or pad.

Saw Palmetto

http://www.glamourgirlzblog.com/
http://ahealthierphoenix.com/404/acne/saw-palmetto-acne/

Though it has long been used as a way to naturally treat prostate problems in men thanks to its effects on hormones; saw palmetto has been shown to help with acne as well. Saw palmetto is said to help balance hormone levels which can be responsible for acne, especially the kind related to puberty and menstruation.
Saw Palmetto for acne treatment is not FDA approved however they neither forbid it's use.
I would suggest before treating yourself with this particular herbal remedy you should consult a doc!

Eat Yourself Beautiful.

There’s nothing wrong with a trip to Sephora or any other cosmetic store when you want to freshen up your look, but to really look your best you might want to consider a stop at market too. Research has found that certain foods can give you healthy, younger-looking skin and healthier hair.

What to Eat

Research has found that there is a definite link between your diet and your skin. From making your skin healthy to protecting it from sun damage, what you eat can certainly impact how your skin looks. The following will give you an idea of what foods to add to your grocery list so that you can get the glowing skin that you’re after.

·
Yellow fruits and veggies. Image source- www.hqoboi.com
Orange and yellow fruits and veggies

Fruits and vegetables that are orange and yellow contain beta-carotene, which is an antioxidant and source of vitamin A. It’s been shown that antioxidants protect our cells from damage caused by free radicals, which have been linked to the aging process.  The vitamin A you get from beta-carotene is also crucial for the production of an oily substance called sebum, which is created by the hair’s sebaceous glands to condition your hair and scalp.

With too little of it your scalp would be itchy and dry and your skin brittle and lifeless. You can get high amounts of beta-carotene from carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, cantaloupe, apricots, and oranges. A good rule of thumb when shopping for your produce: the more intense the color is, the more beta-carotene it contains.

·
Leafy greens. Image source- feedmink.com
     Leafy greens

You can never go wrong with eating more leafy greens because of the impact they have on your overall health as well as your appearance. Leafy greens contain high levels of an anti-oxidant that also belongs to the category of carotenoids like beta-carotene, called lutein. It works the same way on your skin by protecting the cells from damage from free radicals. It’s been found to protect the skin as well as the eyes from UV damage; not as a substitution for sunscreen though. They also contain high amounts of fiber, folic acid iron, and other nutrients known to promote healthy hair growth. You can get the highest sources of lutein from leafy green vegetables, such as kale, spinach, and collard greens. Non-leafy sources of lutein include peas and leeks.

Facts About Sunscreens!

Hey everyone! How are you all doing????Hopefully fine. Here I am with a very informative post about sunscreens. I have been doing a lot of research lately to find almost everything about sunscreens and so here I am with all the vital info that I could gather! I really hope that this post will benefit all of us!

Sunscreens
WHAT IS AN SPF AND IT'S ROLE?
SPF is Sun Protection Factor that ranges from 2 to as high as 50 and it is the capability to provide a screen or block from the harmful ray's of the sun. However, it's a misconception that higher the SPF greater the protection. A higher SPF number doesn't mean it's going to provide you better or longer protection! The protection gets slightly higher with increase in the SPF number. The actual fact is no sunscreen can provide you with complete protection. Now, in order to achieve  maximum protection look for a sunscreen that provides protection against UVA and UVB

WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING UVA AND UVB PROTECTION IN YOUR SUNSCREEN?
UVB are the sun burning rays and on the other hand UVA are the rays that cause skin ageing, wrinkles, fine lines, sun spots, skin cancer, tanning etc. SPF rating only applies to UVB protection hence, it's extremely important for you to select a sunscreen that not only provides you with protection against UVB but also UVA radiation! Select a sunscreen that is "broad-spectrum" as this factor of the sunscreen provides protection against UVB and UVA as well! *There is no FDA-approved rating system for UVA radiation yet.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SUNSCREEN AND SUNBLOCK
SUNSCREENS are usually colorless and retain a thin film on the skin. On the contrary, SUNBLOCKS contain ingredients such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide that physically block ultraviolet radiation and provide both UVA and UVB protection. However, sunblocks are cosmetically not acceptable as they are messy, noticeable and do not easily wash off.

BEAUTY TIPS- Mask of multani mitti(fuller's earth) and sandalwood powder

To tighten pore, remove acne marks and enhance skin tone and texture use a mask made of multani mitti (fuller's earth) and Chandan powder(sandal wood powder). This mask is terrific for oily skin. I have genuine fondness for this mask as it clarifies my oily-combi skin from impurities and makes it tremendously soft and supple. Although it does dry my skin yet i think this issue can be undoubtedly resolved by utilizing a moisturizer.

Multani Mitti-
Also known as Fuller's Earth is highly effective in absorbing dead cells from the top layer of the skin and simultaneously improving circulation. On the other hand, because of the presence of hydrated aluminium silicate it is not suitable for dry skin, as it tends to make the skin more dry.

Chandan powder-
Also called sandal wood powder has many significant curative properties such as lightening acne marks, spots, blemishes and cutting down the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It has a soothing fragrance to it . Makes skin soft and imparts a healthy glow.

Lemon-
Brightens the skin , helps remove blackheads, removes tan, fades age spots and acne scars.

Rose water-
It has anti-inflammatory properties that reduces redness of skin from irritation and heat.Aids in eliminating oil and dirt from clogged pores. The aroma from roses is said to be a strong mood enhancer and a de-stresser that makes you look and feel fresh.

INGREDIENTS
  1. Multani mitti ( Fuller's Earth) 1 tbsp
  2. Chandan powder( sandal wood powder) 1 tsp.
  3. Lemon juice - Use half a lemon.
  4. Rose water - Add accordingly to make a paste of a fine thick consistency
